"Limited edition". What collector is not thrilled with these magic words? The possibility of having a "difficult" item in your collection, one that enters a list of those you want right away, won't run out. After all... it's limited and only the lucky ones want it!

We really enjoy collecting limited editions, however, ask our questions, as I would like to open a discussion here. First, the price, the value of these dispensers is, from the outset, more expensive and tends to increase over time, after all, exclusivity pays... But it will be worth investing a little more now in favor of future collection? Or channel this value to other PEZ before, acquiring a greater quantity?

Then we have the question of Blitzer, do we keep the package closed or do we open it like the rest? If it's closed, it can't be on display with the others, and since it's an important item in the collection, it doesn't make sense to be separated from it, however, if we open it, it loses value...

We discovered this "little" treasure in one of the PEZ groups we frequent on Facebook. "Not Just A Plastic Toy" is a documentary about collecting this item and everything around it.

In this doc we find some interviews and testimonials from several American collectors, images of an event dedicated to our beloved item and much more.

Directed by Evan Stephens (USA) this documentary and shows us that collecting PEZ is not just collecting a toy, because PEZ is not a mere plastic toy. PEZ is without a doubt much more than a plastic item and a candy. They do not believe? So look at these 20 minutes full of love...

Some time ago we had already announced these sets. Now is the confirmation.

Care Bears are a group of multi-colored bears, originally painted in 1981 by artist Elena Kucharik to be used on greeting cards from American Greetings. In 1983, the characters were turned into plush teddy bears. The current TV series, Care Bears: Unlock the Magic, debuted on Boomerang SVOD on February 1, 2019, and is enjoying great success.

The first time the Care Bears were seen was at the Sweets and Snacks Expo in June. And now we show you the official image of this quartet of 4 cute bears.

The new Care Bears PEZ range will appear in the first quarter of 2022 in both Europe and the USA. We can't wait to to add Cheer Bear, Share Bear, Grumpy Bear and Funshine Bear soon to our Collections.

As we liked Japan and, in particular, more pop culture, it was almost mandatory to interview a PEZ collector from the country of the Rising Sun. This was the interview we had with Shiho Adachi, one of the most japanese effusive collectors. She even got a PEZ dispenser withe her face. Isn't it fabulous?


Introduce yourself and tell us when you started collecting?
My name is Shiho Adachi from Japan. I started collecting PEZ when I was a high school student. Long time ago.

Your first PEZ was...
Mickey Mouse.

How many PEZ do you have in your collection?
I am not sure correct number... I guess more than 5000? and I have many PEZ goods.

Is your collection just PEZ dispensers or the entire universe of this brand?
I collect dispensers and goods.

Your favorite PEZ is...
Shiho PEZ! My custom PEZ. Do you have a maximum value to give for a PEZ? And what's the most you've paid for a PEZ for your collection?
Yes. I don't remember exact price... around $500?

Where do you buy your PEZ?
Convention, supermarket and from friend.

If you were the owner of PEZ which/which ones would you like to be able to create that don't exist yet?
I would like to make a real PEZ licensed Shiho PEZ.

And this question reminds us to ask about the Japan Pez releases. Which one are your favorite and is there any anime or manga that you would like to have in PEZ?
I like Gundam series. Sailor Moon, JOJO Bizarre Adventure.

And can you talk a little about the Japanese Pez Community?
I think deep collectors are about 100 people in Japan. We hold PEZ gathering once a year. But only half day.

Many PEZ collectors collect other things. Do you collect anything else?
No. I collect only PEZ now. But I used to collect Kinder surprise and Mcdonald's meal toy.

And finally, can you give some advice to anyone who wants to get started in this world of PEZ?
It is difficult question.. Make more anime character Pez??

Christmas is coming and with it, news from PEZ.
This year we will be treated to a limited edition full-body Santa Claus, a tribute to its original 1955 version. the lozenges in the middle of the face. This item has a small ribbon at the top that allows it to hang on the Christmas tree and has the particularity of having the opening for the inserts in the middle of the face. This dispenser is sold in a special box, accompanied by 6 packages of PEZ caramels. It remains to be seen whether it will reach the Europe and Portuguese market.

We hope so, as we would love to have it in our collection!

Today is Austrian National Day – an important public holiday in PEZ homeland and a great opportunity to remind you all of this classic Austrian gift set featuring Sisi and Mozart.

And how about a little history?
After the end of the War, Austria was occupied by the four Allied forces (Soviet Union, United States, Great Britain, and France), who divided the country into four zones. The capital Vienna was also divided in four, with the historic central district being jointly administered by the “Allied Control Council”. Although the Austrian parliament was democratically elected, every legislative regulation or political action of the government at first required consent by the Allied Control Council and later on could still be vetoed by it.

The negotiations over a State Treaty putting an end to the occupation could finally be concluded in the spring of 1955: the Austrian State Treaty was signed on May 15, 1955, in Vienna's Schloss Belvedere and entered into force on July 27, 1955.

On October 26, 1955, the Austrian Parliament passed the constitutional law on permanent neutrality, which has been celebrated as the Austrian National day since 1965.

E que tal um bocadinho de história?
Após o fim da guerra, a Áustria foi ocupada pelas quatro forças aliadas (União Soviética, Estados Unidos, Grã-Bretanha e França), que dividiram o país em quatro zonas. A capital Viena também foi dividida em quatro, com o distrito central histórico a ser administrado em conjunto pelo “Conselho de Controlo Aliado”. Embora o parlamento austríaco fosse eleito democraticamente, toda regulamentação legislativa ou atção política do governo exigia, a princípio, o consentimento do Conselho de Controle Aliado e, posteriormente, ainda podia ser vetada por ele.

As negociações sobre um Tratado Estatal que põe fim à ocupação puderam finalmente ser concluídas na primavera de 1955: o Tratado Estatal Austríaco foi assinado a 15 de Maio de 1955, no Schloss Belvedere de Viena, e entrou em vigor em 27 de julho de 1955.

Em 26 de Outubro de 1955, o Parlamento austríaco aprovou a lei constitucional sobre a neutralidade permanente, que tem sido celebrada como o Dia Nacional da Áustria desde 1965.

Second-hand sales site alerts are a fantastic feature. But a terrible temptation. That's how we discovered several vintage PEZ for sale. Still, we weren't quick enough to secure as many as we'd like. But our collection has grown with these beautiful items that bring back childhood memories.

Here's a new interview and this time we went to Spain to meet Javier del Vado, one of the greatest spanish collectors, one of the most active Spanish collectors of this pop culture that we all love .
MY DEAR PEZ was chatting with him and we talked about his collection and his PEZ world.


Introduce yourself and tell us when you started collecting?
My name is Javier del Vado, I'm from Madrid and I started collecting in 2017.

Your first PEZ was...
It was a gift from my brother. it was a Star Wars Chewbacca, LFL, patent 7.5, Made in China.

How many PEZ do you have in your collection?
Until the day of this interview I have 1,833 different dispensers, including minis, funkos-pez and dispensers in boxes and cans. Is your collection just PEZ dispensers or the entire universe of this brand?
I collect almost everything related to PEZ, with the exception of XXLs because they take up a lot of space...
Lately, I've been interested in compiling old PEZ ads that appeared in spanish comic books.

Your favorite PEZ is...
Ferdinand Police, Darth Maul, Lizzardman, Wall-E, Buzzlight Year, all Pal and in general the Fantasy dispensers who have offered me other collectors for friendship, contests or cc chains

Do you have a maximum value to give for a PEZ? And what's the most you've paid for a PEZ for your collection?
A Pez that costs you 75€ may seem cheap and one that worth 1.35€, expensive... everything is relative. The maximum I paid for a PEZ dispenser, individually, was €125.
I have dispensers that American collectors were willing to pay around 600 USD, but for now I have no intention of selling them.

Where do you buy your PEZ?
I buy at Chinese stores, at MERCADONA (Supermarket Chain), PRIMARK, TEDI, FNAC and other stores.
Also buy on internet sites: BLACKOUTBCN ; TOYSROCKS (formerly Pez Willi); LA CAJA DE LOS CLICKS ; PEZ Austria; PEZ Uses... Anyway, where you can buy... If you were the owner of PEZ which/which ones would you like to be able to create that don't exist yet?
For example I would like to see a special set by Ibañez, a Spanish decomic author: Mortadelo, Filemón, Pepe Gotera, Otilio, Rompetechos and Botanes Sacarino.

Many PEZ collectors collect other things. Do you collect anything else?
Before I used to collect lottery tickets, but right now it's stopped.

And finally, can you give some advice to anyone who wants to get started in this world of PEZ?
Yoiu should have desire to collect. Then don't forget to add all your PEZ in an excel sheet or in an online database (momopez). Then follow forums and pages of collectors in the different social networks.

O teu PEZ favorito é...
O Policía Ferdinand, Darth Maul, Lizzardman,Wall-E, Buzzlight Year, todos os Pal e em general os dispensadores Fantasy que me ofereceram outros coleccionadores por amizade, concursos ou cadenas de cc

Tens um valor máximo para dar por um PEZ? E qual foi o máximo que já pagaste por um PEZ para a tua coleção?
Um Pez que te cueste 75€ pode parecer barato e um que vale 1,35€, caro... tudo é relativo. O máximo que paguei por un dispensaor PEZ, de forma individual foi 125€.
Tenho dispensadores que colecionadores americanos estávam dispostos a pagar uns 600 doláres, mas para já não tenho nenhuma intenção de os vender.

Onde compras os teus PEZ?
Compro nas lojas dos chineses, no MERCADONA (Cadeia de Supoermercados), PRIMARK, TEDI, FNAC e outras lojas.
Tambécompro em sites de internet: BLACKOUTBCN, TOYSROCKS (Pez Willi); LA CAJA DE LOS CLICKS; PEZ austria; PEZ Usa... Enfim, onde puder comprar... Se fosses dono da PEZ qual/quais seriam os que gostarias de poder criar e que ainda não existem?
Por exemplo gostava de ver um set especial Ibañez, um autor de comics espanhol: Mortadelo, Filemón, Pepe Gotera, Otilio, Rompetechos e Botanes Sacarino.

Muitos dos coleccionadores de PEZ colecionam outras coisas. Tu coleccionas mais alguma coisa?

Que tenha vontade de coleccionar. Que vá anotando numa folha de excel ou numa base de dados online (momopez) e que siga fóruns e páginas de colecionadores nas diversas redes sociais.

If you still doubted that collecting PEZ is fun, very cool and cute, from now on those doubts are over. The reason is simple, just look at this two new collections that will come out for the year (2022) in the United States and Europe a few months later (hopefully).

For PEZ and video game fans like us, this set is simply awesome. The new set of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sega's famous mascot, features the three most iconic characters from the Sonic game, Knuckles and Tails.

The other set that has also been announced is the Care Bears (Carinhosos Bears in Portugal), a set of characters created by American Greetings in 1981 for greeting and birthday cards with original designs by artist Elena Kucharik. The set will have four Care Bears (Cheer, Share, Grumpy and Funshine).

Halloween is just around the corner and, to celebrate it, there is also a PEZ series dedicated to the theme.

The Vampire joins, in 2021, the other dispensers already existing in previous years. It was also release a crystal version of this Vampire. It's a shame that it's exclusive to the US, however, news released today point to its sale in Europe as well.

It will not yet be sold in Portugal, but it is always more accessible for portuguese collectors!

After reading this news Marvel fans will be super happy. After a few months of delay due to the pandemic, the series PEZ Marvel Eternals hits stores.

This PEZ set will have 4 dispensers (Kro, Ikaris, Sersi and Celestial) and besides being sold separately, there will also be two boxes with 2 Eternals each. The dispensers are very detailed so I'm sure it will be an item to make our collections even more beautiful and valuable.

The only drawback of this collection is that it will only be released in the United States.

I find myself at the supermarket checkout, four Pez blisters in my hand. But... I just came looking for Tom...

I've been searching in all the supermarkets looking for Jerry's partner, so alone in the collection. And here I come across the series "The Minions". Complete. And how well they go together. How to resist?!

Well, this is the great dilemma of a collector (I assume that we are all like that!). The balance between the desire to have all the items (right away) and the expenses that they entail. We started the collection days ago and found ourselves lost among all the PEZ still available in supermarkets, second-hand websites and online websites with a diverse offer.

Self-control is required, not least because the great pleasure of collecting is in the search and not in the purchase. I also know that this is beginner's enthusiasm and that, for now, starting with almost nothing it is very easy to make the collection grow. That from now on, research will be more demanding, but also more pleasurable. And the slightest lack of control.

Did I think all this at the supermarket checkout? Not! I just thought that 64 was now the PEZ number in our collection and that I was eager to send a photo and surprise my boyfriend.

This was one of my stories as a young collector. And what are your stories?

Dou por mim, na caixa de pagamento do supermercado, com quatro blisters de Pez na mão. Mas... Eu vim apenas procurar o Tom...

Tenho percorrido todos os supermercados em busca do companheiro do Jerry, tão sozinho na colecção. E eis que me deparo com a série "The Minions". Completa. E que bem ficam juntos. Como resistir?!

Pois, este é o grande dilema de um coleccionador (parto do princípio que sejamos todos assim!). O equilíbrio entre a vontade de ter todos os itens (de imediato) e as despesas que estes acarretam. Nós começámos a colecção há dias e damos por nós perdidos entre todos os PEZ ainda disponíveis nos supermercados, sites de venda em segunda mão e sites online com uma oferta diversificada.

O autocontrolo exige-se, até porque o grande prazer de coleccionar está na procura e não na compra. Também sei que este é o entusiasmo de principiante e que, para já, começando com quase nada é muito fácil fazer a colecção crescer. Que daqui em diante a pesquisa será mais exigente, mas também mais prazerosa. E o descontrolo menor.

Se pensei tudo isto na caixa de pagamento do supermercado? Não! Pensei apenas que 64 era agora o número de PEZ na nossa colecção e que estava ansiosa por enviar uma foto e surpreender o meu namorado.

És um PEZ Head e adoras cerveja? Sim, bem, esta notícia é para vocês. A semana passada foi o dia da tradicional batida do primeiro barril, que marca a abertura da Oktoberfest em Munique (Alemanha). Mas devido à situação de pandemia, o festival não se realizou. Para comemorar o dia, a PEZ fez um dispensador dedicado ao Oktoberfest, para assim podermos trazer um pouco do ambiente “Wiesn” para a nossa casa!

When talking about PEZ collecting, a name that immediately comes to mind is Luís Macedo, one of the greatest Portuguese collectors and a tireless promoter of this pop culture that we all love.
MY DEAR PEZ was chatting with him and we talked about his collection and his PEZ world.


Introduce yourself and tell us when you started collecting?
My name is Luís, but as we all know, in some hobbies and with the internet we are led to have a nickname... in this case, my name is Pezilla. So maybe he's another nerd of these wanderings (laughs). This name unites two of my interests, PEZ and the Godzilla universe. This name also gave rise to a PEZ blog in Portuguese and the Portugal PEZ Gathering.

Your first PEZ was...
I remember that as a child I saw something for sale, but I wouldn't have the money to buy them either. Probably back then I preferred ice cream... I still prefer it today! (laughter). If I had any PEZ dispensers at that time, they didn't live to remember. Later and with certainty, in the 90s I had a PEZ Garfield. But collecting only started in 2011, well... it's been 10 years this September... and in this case the first one was a Po dispenser, the Kung Fu Panda.

How many PEZ do you have in your collection?
I've had over 1300 different PEZ dispensers, but now I'm restructuring the collection and it's shrinking considerably. I think it passes on to some collectors, from different hobbies. At the moment I'm only interested in a few series, such as Marvel, DC Comics, Star Wars and Star Trek. And I collect without the blisters... FREE PEZ! (laughter). Is your collection just PEZ dispensers or the entire universe of this brand?
I also collect or we can say that I collected other PEZ things, especially advertisements for magazines that came out in different countries.

Your favorite PEZ is...
It's quite difficult to answer this question. There are vintage PEZ dispensers that are real gems, in the way they are made, sometimes "badly made" which gives them a phenomenal aura. But then there are the common ones, who because of the characters they are, I have affection for them. Honestly, if in the end I could only choose one, I would even lean more towards a common one. If you choose a vintage PEZ, I really like the 1965 Wolfman, if it's an "intermediate, I love the Speedy Gonzalez version A, "more normal", it could be one of Marvel's Wolverines.

Do you have a maximum value to give for a PEZ? And what's the most you've paid for a PEZ for your collection?
Have not have. At first I think we thought about it, but then there are opportunities or misfortunes (laughs) that can make us "lose our minds". Right now I'm not interested in vintages, so I don't think about it anymore (thankfully). The maximum... I think I had a memory failure in that detail (laughs).

Where do you buy your PEZ?
Formerly in supermarkets, but mainly on the internet. With the change that took place recently with extra-community mailings, except on the internet. However, friendships are made with people from other countries and in the past I have also made some exchanges, as the American PEZ market is different from the European one and vice versa. If you were the owner of PEZ which/which ones would you like to be able to create that don't exist yet?
There's a saying that goes something like "you're only really known when they put your head in a PEZ dispenser", so I was the "PEZ owner" myself! (laughter). No, seriously... did Godzilla without a shadow of a doubt.

Many PEZ collectors collect other things. Do you collect anything else?
I've already collected more. Currently I have been interested in vinyl figures from the Bandai Godzilla Movie Monsters Series, about 15 cm tall and much longer, we wouldn't have to mention the tail of the King of Monsters!

And finally, can you give some advice to anyone who wants to get started in this world of PEZ?
The best advice I can give you is to fall in love with what you are collecting. They want to know the story and the details and not just if the character A or B came out, or if one day they will be worth a lot. That in my opinion is not collecting, it's just putting things together and you don't get pleasure from it. And make friends. At PEZ Gatherings and social media you can meet many people and certainly some become great friends. Apresenta-te e diz-nos quando começaste a coleccionar?
Chamo-me Luís, mas como todos sabemos, em alguns hobbies e com a internet somos levados a ter algum nickname... nesse caso, chamo-me Pezilla. Portanto, talvez seja mais um nerd destas andanças (risos). Esse nome une dois dos meus interesses, os PEZ e o universo do Godzilla. Esse nome também deu origem a um PEZ blog em português e ao Portugal PEZ Gathering.

O teu primeiro PEZ foi...
Recordo-me que em criança ver algo à venda, mas tampouco teria dinheiro para os comprar. Provavelmente nessa altura preferia gelados... ainda hoje prefiro! (risos). Se tive algum dispensador PEZ nessa altura, não sobreviveu para me lembrar. Mais tarde e já com certezas, nos anos 90 tive um PEZ Garfield. Mas o coleccionismo só começou em 2011, bom... já faz 10 anos este mês de setembro... e neste caso o primeiro foi um dispensador do Po, o Panda do Kung Fu.

Quantos PEZ tens na tua colecção?
Já tive mais de 1300 dispensadores PEZ diferentes, mas estou a restruturar a colecção e esta está a diminuir consideravelmente. Creio que passa a alguns coleccionadores, de diferentes hobbies. Neste momento apenas me estão a interessar algumas séries, como a Marvel, a DC Comics, Star Wars e Star Trek. E colecciono sem os blisters... FREE PEZ! (risos). A tua colecção é apenas os dispensadores PEZ ou todo o universo desta marca?
Também colecciono ou podemos dizer que coleccionei outras coisas PEZ, em especial publicidade das revistas que saíram em diferentes países.

O teu PEZ favorito é...
É bastante difícil responder a essa questão. Há dispensadores PEZ vintage que são autênticas jóias, no modo como estão feitos, por vezes "mal feitos" o que lhes dão uma aura fenomenal. Mas depois há os comuns, que pelos personagens que são tenho afeição a eles. Sinceramente, se no final pudesse escolher só um, até me inclinaria mais para algum comum. Se escolher um PEZ vintage, gosto muito por exemplo do Wolfman de 1965, se for um "intermédio, adoro o do Speedy Gonzalez versão A, "mais normal", podia ser um dos Wolverine da Marvel.

Tens um valor máximo para dar por um PEZ? E qual foi o máximo que já pagaste por um PEZ para a tua coleção?
Ter não tenho. No princípio creio que pensamos nisso, mas depois surgem oportunidades ou desgraças (risos) que nos podem fazer "perder a cabeça". Neste momento não estou interessado em vintages, pelo que já não penso nisso (e ainda bem). O máximo... acho que me ocorreu uma falha de memória nesse detalhe (risos).

Onde compras os teus PEZ?
Antigamente nos supermercados, mas principalmente na internet. Com a mudança que ocorreu recentemente com os envios extracomunitários, menos na internet. No entanto fazem-se amizades com pessoas de outros países e no passado também fiz algumas trocas, visto que o mercado PEZ americano é diferente do europeu e vice-versa. Se fosses dono da PEZ qual/quais seriam os que gostarias de poder criar e que ainda não existem?
Há um ditado que diz algo assim "só és realmente conhecido quando puserem a tua cabeça num dispensador PEZ", por isso fazia o "dono da PEZ", eu mesmo! (risos). Não, a sério... fazia o Godzilla sem sombra de dúvida.

Muitos dos coleccionadores de PEZ colecionam outras coisas. Tu coleccionas mais alguma coisa?
Já coleccionei mais. Actualmente tenho tido interesse por figuras de vinil da Bandai Godzilla Movie Monsters Series, com cerca de 15 cm de altura e muitos mais de comprimento, não estivéssemos a falar da cauda do rei dos Monstros!

E por último, podes dar um conselho a quem quer iniciar-se neste mundo dos PEZ?
O melhor conselho que posso dar é que se apaixonem pelo que estão a coleccionar. Queiram saber da história e dos detalhes e não apenas se saiu o personagem A ou B, ou se um dia vão valer muito. Isso na minha opinião não é coleccionar, é apenas juntar coisas e não se tem prazer com isto. E fazer amigos. Nos PEZ Gatherings e nas redes sociais podem conhecer-se muitas pessoas e com toda a certeza algumas ficam grandes amigos. La Casa de Papel enters its 5th season. Now the hype surrounding the Spanish series has reached PEZ: right on time for the start of the final season, PEZ dispensers featuring the iconic Dali mask will be on sale from 3 September. With collectors in mind, there will also be a version with a transparent hood. Aptly, the PEZ candies resemble gold bars.

La Casa de Papel is the first in the new PEZ lifestyle line targeting adults and picking up on topical themes with cult potential. “Our aim here is also to pay tribute to PEZ’s large existing adult fan community,” says marketing manager Gabriele Hofinger.

As only small editions of the new dispenser series will be produced, they cost more than other PEZ lines. Available for EUR 4.99 from the PEZ web shop (www.shop.pez.at) and very soon from Amazon, too.
